Denton, Texas is known throughout the nation as a community that celebrates and nurtures music and the arts in a big way. The upcoming 36th annual Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, to be held April 29th-May 1st, is a big part of that cultural richness Denton is so famous for.
The Arts and Jazz Festival is expected to attract up to 250,000 attendees over the three day event. The festival, which is free, brings together the very best in music, dance, choral, drama and visual arts. Produced by the Denton Festival Foundation and supported by sponsors such as the Dallas/Ft. Worth American Federation of Musicians Local 72-147 and the City of Denton, this marvelous celebration is packed full with three days of continuous music on seven stages and examples of the fine arts. The event is held outdoors in Denton’s Quakertown Park and Facilities.
Festivities are kicked off Friday evening with the world-famous One O’Clock Lab Band, the premier ensemble of the Jazz Studies Division at the University of North Texas. Other musical performers include multi-Grammy nominated Patrice Rushen, American Country Band The Flatlanders, the Grammy award winning Brave Combo and many more.
Artists from all over the country will present their talents. Dance performances, drama groups and other talent will be an integral part of the fun-filled three days. And, of course the very best in food and drink will be available at every turn.
